Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today called on Governor Banwarilal Purohit at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai and discussed measures being taken to control the spread of coronavirus in the State.
The high profile meeting comes at a time when the State is witnessing an unprecedented increase in the number of coronavirus cases. Today alone, 527 Covid-19 cases have been reported.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar, Chief Secretary Shanmugam and DGP Tripathi, sources said and added that Palaniswami explained in detail to Purohit measures being taken by the government led by him to combat the pandemic.
This is the second meeting of the Chief Minister with the Governor after the lockdown was announced in the last week of March.
