Chennai: The Tamilnadu police have arrested 5,09,296 persons for violating the rules of lockdown.
Until this morning, the police in various districts have recorded as many as 4,80,229 violations, a press release from the DGP’s office said.
The police seized 4,13,238 vehicles from those who stepped out of their houses for non-essential purposes. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner. A total amount of Rs 6,87,03,524 has been collected from violators as fines.
