646 new Covid-19 cases in TN, 509 from Chennai alone

Chennai: After crossing 800-mark on Monday, Tamilnadu’s coronavirus figures were slightly lesser today, as the State reported 646 new cases today. Out of them, 509 are from Chennai alone.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 infected persons in the State has touched 17,728. Tamilnadu reported nine deaths on a single day today. As many as 83 lives have been lost due to the novel coronavirus in the city.

According to the Chennai City Corporation’s area-wise breakup of Covid-19 numbers earlier today, 5,643 persons currently have the infection and 5,331 patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.

Royapuram remains the largest hotspot for the infection. There are 1,113 patients with the virus and 931 have been discharged from hospital so far. 21 people died in the past two months due to the infection.

Tondiarpet in north Chennai is the second largest containment zone. Here, 665 persons have Covid-19 and 420 have been sent home from hospitals. 11 people here have passed away after getting infected.

Kodambakkam has high figures of Coronavirus patients. 635 persons have the virus and 847 infected persons have tested negative for it. Six persons have died because of the virus.

Another hotspot Teynampet has 607 persons with the virus and 572 have fully recovered from it. Nine residents of Teynampet have died due to the infection.

Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar in north Chennai is yet another place where the virus has been spreading fast. Even as 650 persons have recovered, 588 still have the virus and 15 persons have died.

Anna Nagar has 461 patients being treated for Covid-19 and 452 have fully recovered from it, 11 persons lost their lives to the pandemic in the locality.

As many as 297 persons in Valsaravakkam has contracted the virus, while 439 have been discharged from the hospital, four persons have died here.

Ambattur has 210 with the infection and 262 have recovered. No lives were lost here. In the neighbourhood of Adyar, nearly 327 are battling the virus and 287 have overcome it, and officials said five persons died due to Covid-19.

Thiruvottiyur has 210 persons with Coronavirus and 112 have recovered from it. There are 79 infected patients in Manali, 153 in Madhavaram, 64 in Alandur and 114 in Perungudi and 120 Covid-19 patients in Shollinganallur.
