Chennai: Nearly 7.61 lakh persons have been arrested by the Tamilnadu police for violating norms of social distancing and venturing out during curfew.
A press release from the DGP’s office said that 6,96,583 violations have been recorded in various districts and the police arrested as many as 7,61,118 persons for defying norms of curfew.
The restrictions have been imposed across the State to curb the spread of Coronavirus since 24 March.
As many as 5,71,492 vehicles were seized from these persons. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner.
A total amount of Rs 15,99,65,345 has been collected from violators as fine since March.
