Chennai cops write to YouTube to block Karuppar Koottam channel

Chennai: The Central Crime Branch police in Chennai have written a letter to YouTube to block Karuppar Koottam channel, which hurt Hindu sentiments by denigrating Kandha Sashti Kavasam.

A few days ago, after arresting those behind a controversial video that denigrated Kandha Sashti Kavasam, the police had reportedly sealed the office of Karuppar Koottam YouTube channel in Chennai.

Sources said the police have intensified probe and launched investigation into the source of funds for the channel accused of hurting Hindu sentiments.

Following the arrest of Senthil Vasan, who was associated with ‘Karuppar Koottam’, the YouTube channel which denigrated Lord Muruga and insulted Hindu Sentiments by the central Crime Branch police, the presenter of the channel Surendra Natarajan on Thursday surrendered before the Tamilnadu police at Kottamedu, Ariyankuppam near Puducherry.

It may be noted that the BJP had organised widespread protest all over Tamilnadu demanding action against the channel and immediate arrest of all involved in the crime.

It was alleged that the channel Karuppar Kootam insulted the faith of Hindus by uploading a video with dubious claims about devotional song ‘Kanda Sashti Kavasam’ in praise of Lord Muruga by uploading an episode under the title ‘Aabasa Puranam Series – Kandha Sashti Kavasam – Kathakalatchebam’, in which ‘derogatory’ remarks against the Hindu deity were made.
