4,965 new Covid-19 cases in TN, total crosses 1.80 lakh

Chennai: Tamilnadu today reported 4,965 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of coronavirus infections in the State to 1,80,643. For the past few days, Tamilnadu has been reporting close to 5,000 cases on a daily basis.

Out of the 4,965, the capital city of Chennai reported 1,130 cases today. With this, the total number of Covid-19 infections in the metropolis has reached 88,377.

As many as 4,894 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the State after recovery today, while 74 Covid-19 infected persons lost their lives. As a result, total number of recoveries in Tamilnadu stands at 1,26,670 and that of fatalities lies at 2,626.

A whopping number of 50,055 persons were tested in Tamilnadu today, according to the daily evening bulletin released by the State Health department. Chennai alone reported 21 deaths today.

As far as cases in other districts of Tamilnadu are concerned, Thiruvallur and Virudhunagar reported 366 new infections, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Thoothukudi reported more than 200 cases, while Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Ranipet, Theni, Thiruvannamalai, Tiruchi and Vellore reported more than 100 cases.
