Chennai: Though the case of Covid-19 have hit a new record in Tamilnadu, but Chennai has steered clear and is showing improvement.
According to data from Chennai Corporation, currently the active cases stand at 13,941 (16 per cent) and the recovered rate is 82 per cent and 73,681 persons have recovered. The death rate is 2.17 per cent and 1,939 lives have been lost to the pandemic. Cases are climbing down in all the neighbourhoods.
A hot spot, Kodambakkam has 2,029 active cases and Anna Nagar, another containment zone has 1,656 patients testing positive. Teynampet has 1,176 active cases.
Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar has 1,131 and Royapuram, which had the highest positive patients now has 933 cases. Another hotspot, Tondirapet currently has 723 cases.
Royapuram, which has 70 per cent of its population affected, is showing an impressive recovery rate with 9,262 persons overcoming the viral infection.
Even the casualties related to Covid-19 have reduced. Teynampet has the highest death toll in the city with 295, followed by Tondiarpet with 238 deaths.
