Chennai: Gameskraft, which claims itself to be the India’s fastest growing new-age gaming company, has announced securing a Guinness World Record for organising the largest online rummy tournament globally.
Part of an Rs 3,500 crore industry, Gameskraft looks to tap into the Indian gaming industry user base of more than 2.5 crore players nationally.
The competition, which had cash rewards for each participant, involved a total prize pool of Rs 12 lakh with zero entry fee. The competition saw 40 per cent of participants from Tamilnadu, 22 per cent from Andhra Pradesh, 13 per cent from Maharashtra, 7 per cent from Karnataka and the remaining spread out across other Indian States.
The winner of the tournament, NanthakumarPalinasamy from Tamilnadu, won the first prize of Rs one lakh after 41 deals and seven rounds. He said, “I have been playing for a year now, and have played across various sites. Imagine winning a competition like this after just a year of playing the game.”
Karthik Muruggan from Chennai, who received a cash prize as well said, “Platforms such as Rummyculture give us an opportunity to sharpen our minds in these times when one is so burdened with health worries, financial worries and family worries.”
