Chennai: The number of active cases of Covid-19 in the city has declined marginally. The recovery rate from coronavirus is 85 percent and the number of active cases is 13 per cent.
A total of 97,575 cases Covid-19 cases have been recorded by the Greater Chennai Corporation since March.
Out of this, close to 82,764 persons have recovered after treatment, Royapuram which was one of the most affected areas for the viral infection is now showing 90 per cent recovery.
Nearly, 10,041 have been treated and sent home. This is followed by Anna Nagar where 9,540 persons have overcome the disease.
According to data from the civic body, currently the active cases stand at 12,735. The death rate is 2.13 per cent and 2,076 lives have been lost to the pandemic.
As part of rapid testing, on 29 July as many as 12,659 persons were tested. The Chennai Corporation gave an area-wise break up of the places which have Covid-19.
A hot spot, Kodambakkam has 1,734 active cases and Anna Nagar, another containment zone has 1,453 patients testing positive. Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar has 1,137 cases of Covid-19, Adyar has 1,194 active cases and the neighbourhood of Ambattur has 1,198 patients hospitalised.
The neighbourhood of Manali has the least number of infected patients, that is 132 cases. It may be noted that Teynampet has the highest death toll in the city with 317, followed by Royapuram with 255 deaths.
