Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today announced the renaming of Central, CMBT and Alandur Metro Rail stations.
He said that the Central Metro station will be called as Puratchithalaivar Dr M G Ramachandran Central Metro. Already, the Central Railway Station has been named after MGR, it is to be noted.
The Chief Minister said CMBT Metro will be called as Puratchi Thalaivi Dr J Jayalalithaa Metro Station and Alandur Metro will be known as Arignar Anna Alandur Metro.
Palaniswami said since Chennai international airport is called Anna International Terminal, nearby Alandur Metro is renamed Arignar Anna Alandur Metro. He also recalled the efforts by Jayalalithaa for Metro project in Chennai.
He said the orders were issued accepting a high-level committee’s recommendation for the change of names of the stations.
