
Kancheepuram: The Tamilnadu Bone and Joint Doctors Association has decided to celebrate the first week of August as Bone and Joint Week.
Speaking to reporters in Kancheepuram, the association’s president Dr S G Thirumalaisamy and Dr P T Saravanan said, “Since 2012, 4 August is being celebrated as Bone and Joint Day. This year, it has been decided to celebrate it throughout the first week of August”.
A lot of awarness events have been planned across the State. “Maintaining body weight, proper exercises, intake of vitamin and calcium rich food items can prevent bone and joint ailments,” they said.
Bone and Joint day is not a mere celebration, the day gives orthopaedic fraternity an opportunity to reassess and evaluate their performance and usefulness to the society.
It gives an opportunity to introspect and think about their role in the society in improving bone health of the people, in prevention and / treatment of bone and joint disorders that is cost effective and within the reach of a common man.
