Chennai: The centuries-old Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam has played its part in the bhumi pujan for constructing the Ram temple in Ayodhya by sending gold and silver coins, holy soil collected from temples and Vaasthu materials.
Kanchi Acharya Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal in a release here said apart from gold and silver coins, a silver plate with hymns of Lord Ram and the sacred soils from the ancient Lord Ekambranathar Swamy temple, Goddess Kamakshi Amman temple and other Vaishnavite temples in the town were sent by air to Ayodhya ahead of the Bhumi pujan.
The 70th Pontiff of the Math said two bricks were also sent with the blessings of his predecessors Sri Jayendra Saraswathi and Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal, called as ‘Maha Periyavar’.
“Sri Jayendra Saraswati (69th Pontiff) and the Kanchi Math share a very close relationship with the Sri Ram temple coming up in Ayodhya. This is Godâs will,” he said.
He also recalled various measures taken by Sri Jayendra Saraswathi to have a temple built for Lord Ram in Ayodhya by holding talks with many groups.
It’s a sheer coincidence that the Bhumi pujan in Ayodhya and Sri Jayendrarâs birth (star) celebrations happened to be Wednesday– 5 August. This only denotes Sri Jayendraâs bhakthi and affection for Lord Ram, he said.
