Chennai: Terming the Centre’s decision to ‘privatise’ the airports as ‘unilaterial, Opposition DMK president M K Stalin said it “usurps the rights and autonomy from the State” and that it should be revoked.
In a tweet, he said “the Centre’s unilateral decision to privatise airports usurps the rights and autonomy from the State.”
He said it also violates the pledge made in 2003 that any proposal concerning airport privatisation would be made only in consultation with the State government and must be revoked.
He was referring to the Centre’s decision to lease out Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram airports through PPP mode to Adani Enterprises.
