Chennai: Despite a host of relaxations being given in the State from today, the Tamilnadu police are going ahead with their work.
Nearly 10,04,550 persons were arrested for violating Section 144. Since 24 March, in order to curb the spread of Covid-19 and to enforce social distancing, the State police have been arresting those who ventured out during curfew.
Close to 9,06,939 violations have been recorded by the police in various districts and FIRs have been registered against them, a press release from DGP’s office said today.
As many as 6,99,826 vehicles were seized from these persons. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner.
A total amount of Rs 22,20,18,843 has been collected from violators as fines, the release added.
