New Delhi: Suspended Aam Admi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Monday for his alleged role in money laundering, funding of anti-CAA protests and organising riots in northeast Delhi in February 2020.
According to top ED officials, Hussain was brought from Tihar jail to the agency’s headquarters in south Delhi’s Khan Market area for questioning in connection with its ongoing money laundering probe into the northeast Delhi riots in February this year.
The Central probe agency had arrested Hussain last week and a local court on 28 August sent him to ED custody for six days. The agency on Monday brought him to its office in New Delhi from Tihar jail for interrogation.
Hussain, the agency said, has been “arrested in connection with ongoing PMLA investigation into his role in money laundering and funding of anti-CAA protests and organising riots in north-east Delhi during February, 2020.”
