Chennai: Putting speculations to rest, DMK MPs A Raja and Kanimozhi have said they would not contest for the post of the party’s treasurer.
Raja and Kanimozhi have separately said they are in no mood to contest for the top post and would continue to serve the party.
The process to file nominations to contest for the two top level posts of the DMK- general secretary and treasurer- started this morning.
Sources said chances are bright for Durai Murugan and T R Baalu, both party veterans, to be elected unanimously as the general secretary and the treasurer, respectively.
The DMK has convened a virtual meeting of the party’s general council on 9 September to elect new general secretary and treasurer for the party. Prior to that, the DMK had also convened a meeting of the party’s district secretaries this Thursday.
The general council of the DMK will meet via video conferencing on 9 September to elect the party general secretary and treasurer, its president M K Stalin announced on Tuesday.
