Chennai: Tamilnadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment department has introduced online token system for devotees to have darshan at temples.
As per the new system, devotees can book their tickets online and visit the temples as per the time slot allotted to them. This is to prevent crowds at temples, sources said.
Major temples in the state have started updating their websites to enable devotees to book darshan timings in advance. Aadhaar card details are a must for booking the darshan date and timing.
In the new unlock relaxations, the State government granted permission for temples to reopen.
The government later released guidelines that should be followed inside the temple premises. The guidelines include wearing masks and following social distancing.
Temples started allowing devotees on Tuesday, for the first time after five months since the country shut down following the Coronavirus scare.
