Chennai: People who travelled in the first service of Chennai Metro Rail this morning were in for a surprise- as they had a VIP passenger accompanying him.
Tamilnadu Industries Minister M C Sampath, who inaugurated the resumption of Metro Rail services, travelled from Airport Station to Washermenpet station along with officials.
The Home Ministry had recently issued guidelines allowing Metro services in the country to resume operations in a graded manner, following which the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd commenced its services today.
Metro services in Chennai were closed since the last week of March due to the pandemic.
