New Delhi: With the economy opening up on one side and coronavirus cases growing on the other, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a Jan Andolan for Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.
The campaign was launched in view of the upcoming festival and winter season as well as the opening up of the economy.
The aim of the campaign is to encourage people’s participation and a Covid-19 pledge will be taken by everyone. It endeavours to be a low-cost but high-intensity campaign with the key messages to “wear mask, follow physical distancing, maintain hand hygiene”.
Modi tweeted, “Letās unite to fight Corona! Always remember: Do wear a mask, keep your hands clean, follow social distancing, maintain ātwo yardsā distance from others.”
The Prime Minister said Indiaās fight against Covid-19 gets strength from Covid warriors, and the country has to continue the momentum and protect the citizens from the virus.
“Indiaās Covid-19 fight is people-driven and gets great strength from our Covid warriors. Our collective efforts have helped saved many lives. We have to continue the momentum and protect our citizens from the virus. #Unite2FightCorona,” he tweeted.
The campaign got the Union Cabinetās nod on Wednesday. “Mask, social distancing and washing hands are the only weapons to remain safe, in the absence of a Covid-19 vaccine,” Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said.
