Chennai: The Coronavirus cases in the city remain stable in terms of the spread.
With the stringent lockdown being lifted, officials ae on their toes trying to keep the economy open and limit the spread. The tally of positive cases this morning in the city is 13,704 which is eight per cent.
Since March, Chennai has recorded 1,84,429 cases of Covid-19, of which 1,67,284 have recovered since the pandemic began in March. Chennai is showing 91 per cent recovery rate. Nearly, 3,441 persons have died due to the viral infection.
As per data, 434 persons have died in Teynampet, 389 casualties were reported in Anna Nagar and 376 lives were claimed in Kodambakkam.
On 14 October, 13,198 tests were carried out by the city Corporation’s health department.
The Greater Chennai Corporation gave an area-wise break-up of the places which have high numbers of Covid-19.
According to the data, there are 1,332 cases in Anna Nagar, 1,207 positive cases in Teynampet,1,119 cases in Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar and 1,195 cases in Kodambakkam.As many as 1,043 persons tested positive in Adyar and 933 persons in Royapuram have the virus and 936 persons in Ambattur have the infection.
The pandemic has affected more men than women. As per data, 61.58 per cent of the
patients are male and 38.42 per cent are female. Around 18.78 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 50-59 years.
