Mewalal Choudhary

Chennai: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s fourth term started with the resignation of a Minister three days after he and his 14-member cabinet took oath.

Education Minister Mewalal Choudhary had to resign after the Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal flagged a three-year-old corruption case against him and questioned why he was inducted in the government.

On Wednesday, Tejashwi Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) renewed its attack on the state government by sharing an old video of Choudhary singing the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ incorrectly, on the microblogging site Twitter.

The undated video shared by the RJD shows Choudhary botching up the lines of the national anthem and singing incorrect lines at a flag-hoisting ceremony. He was surrounded by children and a few adults as he saluted the national flag.

Choudhary was allegedly facing corruption charges in the recruitment of assistant professors and scientists during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor in Bihar Agricultural University.
