Chennai: Four Tamilnadu fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy personnel for fishing in the Lankan waters early on Sunday morning.
Reports received here said the fishermen, who ventured into the sea yesterday in a mechanised boat, were arrested on charges of crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line in the high seas.
The arrested fishermen were identified as boat owner Constan (42), K Ramesh (34), Pandu (50) –all from Kottaipattinam coastal village and N Mohan of Pamban near Rameswaram.
The arrested fishermen were taken to the Kankesanthurai naval base for further inquiry.
