Chennai: Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram slammed the Centre for the existing deadlock over the farm laws.
Stating that there have been no instances in history where a government has won in a battle against its own farmers.
He said, āNobody will be able to survive if farmers and their rights are crippledā.
Earlier, the former Union Minister had alleged that āno oneā was consulted for the legislations, and asserted that the only way out for the government was to agree to start on a āclean slateā.
A couple of days ago too, Chidambaram had taken on the Centre for its widespread criticism over international celebrities expressing concern over the protests,
He tweeted, āIt is good that Rihanna and Greta Thunberg can wake up the MEA. Come on MEA, when will you realize that people concerned with issues of human rights and livelihoods do not recognize national boundaries?ā
He had also tweeted, āNITI Aayog’s Committee of Chief Ministers on Agriculture concluded its deliberations in September 2019 and gave its report After 16 months, the report has not yet been ‘presented’ to NITI Aayog’s governing council! Why, nobody knows and nobody will answer!ā
