After seat-sharing talks with AIADMK, Amit Shah leaves for Delhi

Chennai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah left to Delhi from Tamilnadu today, after completing seat sharing talks with alliance partner AIADMK.

He held the talks with Chief Minister K Palaniswami and party coordinator O Panneerselvam, at a hotel in Chennai late last night.

Sources said, the discussions began around 10 pm and went on till the early hours of Monday.

It was reported that BJP had been demanding at least 30 seats, which the the ruling party said was a difficult demand to meet, even as it had allotted 23 seats for its ally PMK last week.

An official announcement is awaited on the outcome of the talks.

Amit Shah had earlier arrived in Tamilnadu and addressed a public meeting in Villupuram.

At the meet, he lauded the AIADMK government for its effective handling of the corona pandemic, while launching a strong offensive on the opposition DMK and its ally Congress for pursuing family politics.

Launching a blistering attack, Shah said both the parties are synonymous with corruption.

“They only care about their families, neither state nor the country. I urge people of Tamilnadu to re-elect the NDA with absolute majority, so that we can further our efforts towards the development of the state,” he said.

Referring to the 2G scam and other scams involving the DMK and Congress leaders, Shah said both the parties were hell bent on pursuing their family interests.

“They never cared about the Nation and the State’s welfare,” he charged.

Shah also accused Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi of trying to make her son Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister, while DMK Chief M K Stalin was attempting to make his son Udayanidhi as the next Chief Minister.
