
Chennai: TNCC president K S Alagiri today released Congress manifesto for Assembly elections in which he has said that they would strive for total prohibition.
A few days ago, DMK, the principal ally of Congress, kept mum about prohibition in their manifesto.
Releasing the manifesto, Alagiri, said, “Every year 500 students from higher secondary pass outs will be selected and trained for competitive examinations.”
Efforts would be taken to given to NEET exemption to Tamilnadu, he said and added, “In all temples controlled by HR &CE department, temple priests from other communities will be appointed.”
Welfare of farmers will be assured by doing away with new farm laws initiated by the Centre, he added.
Alagiri said electricity meter readings would be taken once a month. “We will make sure that honour killings are abolished in the State,” Alagiri said.
We want five years tax exemption for those who start new business. Local bodies should be empowered. Increasing reservation from 7 per cent to 10 per cent for govt school students in medical seats, creation of Upper House and appoint honest opinion makers as MLC, he said.
Demands would be made to increase financial assistance to women and senior citizens to Rs 3000, said Alagiri.
The TNCC president also sought the government to provide 50 per cent of the loans taken by businessmen and traders from banks as subsidy considering the covid pandemic situation.
