Chennai: Tamilnadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has reiterated that the State board examinations for Class 12 students would be held offline in schools in the usual three-hour pattern.
He has cleared the air on the issue at a time when there were speculations that examinations would be held online.
Speaking to the media, he said the exam schedule will be released only after the Health department reports a decline in Covid-19 cases.
“Like the future of students, their Health is equally important for us. We will take an appropriate call when the health department registers a decline in the positive cases,” he added.
Making it clear that the government was not in favour of holding the examination online, the Minister said that the department has been studying the feasibility to conduct the public examinations in the classroom in conventional method.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Friday said it would hear on 31 May a plea seeking directions to cancel Class 12 examinations in the wake of the surge in Covid-19 cases across the country.
