Chennai: The meeting of district secretaries and senior office-bearers of the main opposition AIADMK in Chennai on Friday witnessed open discussions on reasons behind the party’s defeat in the Assembly election.
It is said that some of the office-bearers cited in-fighting and alliance as reasons behind the defeat.
Meanwhile, in a resolution adopted at the meet, the AIADMK said people, particulary women expected the DMK, which has assumed power to implement its electoral promises.
“This meeting urges the DMK government to immediately implement its ₹1,000 financial assistance scheme,” it said.
Also, it should honour several promises given to women and if the assurances are not fulfilled expeditiously, the party would hold a massive state-wide protest, AIADMK warned the government in one of the six resolutions adopted in the meet.
