Chennai: Wet weather will continue in the city and interior districts of Tamilnadu for the next 48 hours, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has said.
Chennai and its suburbs received widespread rainfall on Friday. Rains lashed Nungambakkam, Egmore, Kodambakkam, Guindy, Porur, Vadapalani, Villivakkam, Koyambedu, Mylapore, and Adyar areas in the heart of the city.
The suburbs like Avadi, Poonamallee, Red Hills, Chromepet, Tambaram, Urapakkam, Guduvanchery, Medavakkam, Kovilambakkam, Nanganallur, Vandalur, and Anakaputhur areas too received rains the entire night.
“Due to the southwest monsoon, a thunderstorm with heavy rain will occur at isolated places over The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Western Ghats districts of Tamilnadu for the next two days. Also, moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over Kanyakumari, interior districts and coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal,” said N Puviarasan, Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC.
He added: “As far as Chennai is concerned, sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy, and light to moderate rain to continue in some areas for the next 48 hours.”
