Air Marshal Manavendra Singh

Chennai: Air Marshal Manavendra Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Southern Air Command IAF, visited Thanjavur Air Force Station recently.

The AOC-in-C was received by Group Captain J Sreeram, Station Commander, Air Force Station Thanjavur.

On arrival the AOC-in-C was presented with a ceremonial Guard of Honour. In his address, the AOC-in-C lauded the exceptional efforts by the air warriors for ferrying medical relief supplies and oxygen containers to fight the pandemic.

He recognised the endeavours of Air Force Station, Thanjavur in quickly vaccinating all its personnel and managing the Covid situation very well inspite of its remote location.

He also complimented the Air Force Station and the Combat Squadron for taking the lead in planning and participating in two Joint International Exercises between Indian Air Force and US Navy conducted off the eastern and western sea board.

After the address, AOC-in-C interacted with the personnel of the station. The Station Commander briefed the AOC-in-C on the operational preparedness of the station and the morale of its personnel.

The AOC-in-C emphasised on the continued need for IAF to be flexible and have the ability to deploy in any terrain at any time due to our unsettled borders.

He also underlined the need to maintain a very high level of preparedness and operational orientation.

During his visit, the AOC-in-C also reviewed the progress of ongoing infrastructure development projects.
