Chennai hospital treats 37 mucormycosis cases

Chennai: Gleneagles Global Health City (GGHC) has said it has successfully treated 37 cases of post-Covid mucormycosis at a short span.

With rapid rise in incidence and increase in death rates, mucormycosis was declared an epidemic and a notifiable disease by the health authorities.

“Seeing this spike, GGHC had setup a task force to manage black fungus cases that were coming in from Chennai as well as neighboring states and other parts of Tamilnadu,” a GGHC statement said.
