Chennai: Though the overall number of new Covid-19 cases in Tamilnadu recorded a slight decline to 835 on Tuesday, infections in Chennai and Coimbatore went up marginally. Also, after staying low, the fatalities have also gone up in the State.
Chennai continued to top the table with 131 cases, followed by Coimbatore with 98. In Chengalpattu, 70 people tested positive. Erode saw 63 infections and Tiruppur 56.
On Tuesday, 1,22,233 persons were vaccinated as 1,25,580 persons on Monday, as per health department data.
After 924 persons were discharged, the number of active cases stood at 10,271.
Chennai recorded the most number of deaths at four. Coimbatore, Dindigul, Kancheepuram, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Salem, Thanjavur and Tiruvallur logged one fatality each. All of the deceased had co-morbidities.
