Chennai: The probe into the shocking and mysterious death of a 10-year-old a girl due to burn injuries in a school campus in Dindigul district has been transferred to CB-CID wing of the State police.
According to sources, the State police headquarters has transferred the case to CB-CID and has instructed the Dindigul SP to hand over the case files.
The girl was studying in Class 5 at a government school in Dindigul’s Pachalur. The girl was supposed to go home during lunch-break. When she did not reach home, her parents got worried and rushed to the school.
At school, they found out that the girl had received severe burns. She had been found badly burnt near the school kitchen.
She was being taken to a government hospital for the treatment of burn injuries. But she died on her way to the hospital at Oddanchatram village in the district.
There are 109 students and six teachers in the Government Middle School in Pachalur village panchayat, including one school head, two female staff and three male staff. On Wednesday, two female staff and a male staff were on leave.
