Dindigul: After Tamilnadu Director General of Police (DGP) C.Sylendra Babu on Thursday transferred the investigation into the suspicious death of a fifth standard girl student from the district police to the Crime Branch-CID (CB-CID) wing of the State police, the CB-CID has taken over the probe.
The case pertains to the 10-year-old girl, who was found partially burnt behind the Panchayat Union Middle School where she was studying at Pachalur near Kodaikanal in on 15 December.
The girl was declared brought dead by the doctors at Oddanchatram government hospital.
Thandikudi police have registered a case under Sec 174 (suspicious death) of the CrPC. The post mortem report revealed that the girl was not sexually assaulted.
The death of the girl triggered a public outcry with her family members and various outfits staging protest demonstrations for the last two days demanding justice.
The parents of students studying in the school also did not send their children to the school for the last two days.
It was in this background, the probe was transferred from the district police to the CB-CID.
The DGP issued an order transferring the case to the CB-CID and directed District Superintendent of Police V R Srinivasan to hand over the case diary to the CB-CID.
