Chennai: A fine of Rs 3.45 crore has been collected from those who violated the night curfew and Sunday lockdown regulations during the last one week in Tamilnadu.
A release from the Office of the Director General of Police here said from 7 January till Saturday, Rs 3.45 crore was collected as fine from the violators.
A total of 1,64,329 people were fined for not wearing face masks, 1,910 for not maintaining social distancing and 1,552 for assembling in public places without valid reasons.
It said a total of 254 cases were filed and 96 people were arrested during the period. Of this, Rs 86 lakh fine was collected from 43,417 people in Chennai for not wearing masks and for violating the lockdown guidelines, while Rs 83 lakh fine was imposed on 40,148 people in North Zone.
