Chennai: Refuting AIADMK joint coordinator and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami’s charge against Pongal gift hampers for their quality, Food Minister R Sakkarapani has invited the former Chief Minister to a debate.
The Minister listed out the steps taken by the government to ensure quality products for Pongal gift hampers and recalled his rejoinders issued earlier to Palaniswami’s allegations.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader H Raja on Thursday alleged corruption to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore in the purchase of Pongal gift hampers for distribution among the ration cardholders in Tamilnadu this month.
The people will give a befitting reply to the ruling party in the coming civic body election for cheating them, he said.
