Chennai: The ruling DMK is currently leading in 18 corporations, 98 municipalities, according to data from the Tamilnadu State Election Commission (TNSEC) website. The AIADMK is currently leading in 3 municipalities and 41 town panchayats, while the Congress is leading in three municipalities, 15 town panchayats.
Meanwhile, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam candidate Parvez was declared the winner in ward 4 at the Pudukkotai municipality.
The DMK is leading in 30 wards of the Chennai Corporation. Victory declared for nine wards in Salem municipal corporation. Of them, DMK wins eight wards and AIADMK wins one ward.
Security arrangements were in place at counting booths in the Greater Chennai Corporation area today. More than 7,000 police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order in and around counting centres in the city.
