Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Ram Nath Kovind today and briefed him on various issues, including the Ukraine crisis, sources said.
While briefing him on the prevailing situation, the PM also explained to the President steps being taken by the government, sources informed.
Yesterday, Modi while presiding over a high-level meeting over the Ukraine crisis said that the entire government machinery is working round the clock to ensure that all stranded Indians in Ukraine are safe and secure, said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.
After a series of high-level meetings chaired by Modi over the last two days, the government decided to ramp up its efforts in getting back the thousands of Indians.
The government Monday announced under Operation Ganga new flights to evacuate not only Indian citizens stuck in Ukraine – many of whom are not being allowed to cross the border into neighbouring nations like Poland or Romania — but also citizens of neighbouring nations.
