TN Budget on 18 March to be loaded with key schemes

Chennai: Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan will be presenting the Tamil Nadu government’s budget for 2022-23 on 18 March. This will be his second budget.

According to sources, the budget will have announcements on various welfare schemes to be rolled out by the DMK government to fulfil its poll promises.

Assembly Speaker M Appavu said this year too, the budget would be paperless.

The Business Advisory Committee of the House will take a decision on the duration of this session. Sources said the session is likely to last for four or five days.

On 24 March, the Finance Minister will present a vote on accounts for the first few months of the financial year, 2022-23 and final supplementary estimates for 2021-22, it is said.

To a query whether there had been any communication from the Raj Bhavan on the status of the Bill passed by the House during a special session against NEET, Appavu said, ‘I have not enquired about it.’
