Chennai: Chennai Air Customs has seized postal parcels containing 32 MDMA tablets and 419 grams of Ganja, totally worth Rs 1.61 lakh, at the Foreign Post Office.
In the first case, two parcels arrived from Netherland and were addressed to Vijayawada and Hyderabad based persons. On opening the parcels, 32 tablets suspected to be MDMA (15 grams) were found.
In the second case, a parcel in which ganja was ingeniously concealed was intercepted and examined. It led to the recovery of ganja in the form of dried lumps weighing 419 grams.
In all, 32 tablets of MDMA and 419 grams of Ganja, totally valued at Rs 1.61 lakhs were seized from postal parcels under provisions of NDPS Act, 1985, read with the Customs Act, 1962. Further investigations in progress.
