Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has urged the authorities to take stringent and swift action against those attempting to disturb communal harmony in the State.
Inaugurating a three-day conference of District Collectors and police and forest officers at the State Secretariat here, he said swift action should be taken against those who attempted to disturb communal harmony.
He said his government would not compromise on law and order situation and instructed the officials not to allow any form of illegal activities in the State. The officials should not show any leniency to those involved in ‘katta panchayat’ and land grabbing, he said, while directing them to crack down on rowdy elements.
Stating that maintenance of law and order was essential in attracting new investments into the State, he said this in turn would create employment opportunities for the youths and also achieve the goal of making Tamilnadu a USD one trillion economy state.
The government would also not allow offences against women and children, involving psychotropic substances.
In an attempt to maintain peace in the society, the police was taking all precautionary measures in areas prone to caste-related incidents, he added.
As the daily Covid caseload kept declining during the last couple of weeks, Stalin also lauded the officials in the state for successfully managing two Covid-19 waves and has put a full stop to the pandemic during the 10 months of the DMK government.
