Two new Judges take charge at Madras HC


Chennai: Madras High Court Chief Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari today administered the oath of office to two new Judges, whose appointment was notified by the Centre recently.

Nidumolu Mala and S Sounthar were sworn in as the Additional Judges of the Madras High Court by the Chief Justice, who rendered the oath of office at a function held in the Meeting Hall, Additional Library Building of the High Court.

While Mala, who was also the government pleader for Puducherry, has over 32 years of standing, Sounthar has over 28 years of experience.

With their appointment, the sitting strength of the high court has increased to 61, as against the sanctioned strength of 75.

Mala enrolled as an advocate in August 1989 and specialised in writ and civil appellate side.

Sounthar enrolled as an advocate in 1993 and specialised in writ, civil appellate, criminal, labour and service matters.
