Madras HC allows AIADMK GC meet tomorrow

In what is seen as a set back for former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on the unitary leadership issue, the Madras High Court tonight dismissed a batch of petitions filed by his supporters seeking a stay on tomorrow’s executive and General Council meeting of the party.

Ending the nearly forltnight long wrangle on the issue, the court, headed
by Judge Krishnan Ramasamy, said no stay could not be granted on the pleas filed by three supporters of the Panneerselvam, who after jointly signing with party co-coordiantior for convening the meeting, went against it and demanded a stay on the meeting, apparently on the issue of any resolution being taken up on the issue of unitary leadership, with a majority of district secretaries supporting joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami, who has been commanding support of more than 90 per cent of the party leaders.

The court clearly stated no stay could be granted on the present resolutions or the one that could be apparently brought in tomorrow’s meeting, elevating EPS as the unitary leadership.
