AIADMK meet: HC dismisses plea seeking urgent hearing

Chennai : The Madras High Court dismissed a plea seeking to give urgent hearing to the plea seeking ban on proposed AIADMK meet 11 July. A petition filed by OPS supporter Shanmugam came up for hearing before Justice Duraisamy. Hearing the plea, he said the Court cannot take it up on an urgent matter. However on Shanmugam petition over the contempt case filed against Edappadi K Palaniswami and others, the Justice posted the hearing for Monday. Remember a couple of days ago, Palaniswami approached the Supreme Court seeking to stay an order by the Madras High Court, which favoured O Panneerselvam. A division bench of Madras High Court, in an extraordinary sitting in the early hours of June 23, restrained the AIADMK general council from amending the party bye-laws during its meeting.
