A sum of Rs 25 cr has been allocated to renovate Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
Tabling the Budget in the State Assembly today, State Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan said, ‘The stadium will get more facilities’.
Also a sports city with latest facilities will be inaugurated near Chennai. Efforts would be on to make Chennai a sports capital in the nation, he added.
He recalled the successful conduct of World Chess Championship by the State government in Mahabalipuram.
