Stalin writes to Goyal for controlling food inflation

Expressing concern over the worrying trends in food inflation, Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Wednesday urged the Union government to allot 10,000MT each of wheat and tur dal per month from the central stock. The food grains will be sold through cooperative outlets.
In a letter to Union food and public distribution minister Piyush Goyal, the chief minister urged the Centre to take immediate steps to help the state governments in mitigating the impact on the consumers.
“The increase of prices of many essential food commodities, including rice, wheat, tur dal, urad dal and vegetables like tomato has burdened poor and middle-class families immensely,” Stalin said.
