In the wake of the Nipah outbreak in Kerala’s Kozhikode district, the Tamil Nadu health department has ordered the setting up of check-posts at border districts to intensify screening. Dr TS Selvavinayagam, Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has directed all district health officials to intensify surveillance in the border districts of Tamil Nadu including Theni, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and Coimbatore. The order from the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine also said that all travelers from Kerala should be allowed to enter Tamil Nadu only after a complete screening of fever and other symptoms. @@@@
