In a heated exchange of words over the Cauvery river water dispute, BJP state president K Annamalai has accused the ruling DMK party in Tamil Nadu of prioritizing personal interests over the welfare of the state’s people. Annamalai’s remarks come amid rising tensions between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka over the sharing of Cauvery river water. The BJP leader did not mince words in his criticism of the DMK government, specifically targeting Chief Minister M K Stalin. He alleged that the DMK was more concerned about the well-being of its alliance partners than safeguarding the interests of Tamil Nadu’s residents.
Annamalai pointed out that the Cauvery dispute had remained relatively stable until the Congress, an ally of the DMK, assumed power in Karnataka. He claimed that this change in leadership had led to a halt in the flow of Cauvery river water into Tamil Nadu, intensifying the conflict.
“The DMK should clarify whether it is ruling for the welfare of the people of the state or for the alliance parties,” Annamalai asserted.
