Chennai to get more rains in December

In a recent announcement, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has revealed that various parts of Tamil Nadu, including the capital city of Chennai, are expected to experience widespread rains in the first week of December. This weather phenomenon is attributed to a low-pressure system developing over the Andaman Sea, anticipated to intensify into a cyclone in the coming week.As per Mr. P. Senthamarai Kannan, the Deputy Director General of the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai, the low-pressure area is predicted to bring light to moderate rains to Chennai over the next two days. However, the more significant concern lies in the system’s potential to evolve into a cyclonic storm. The forecast indicates that the low-pressure system is likely to move in a northwest direction and could strengthen into a depression by November 29. Kannan suggests that within the subsequent 48 hours, there is a possibility of the system intensifying further, potentially reaching cyclonic storm status over the south Bay of Bengal. The IMD’s proactive announcement provides an early warning to the public and authorities, allowing for necessary preparations and precautionary measures to mitigate the potential impact of the cyclonic system. @@@
