Activist files complaint against BJP leader Annamalai

Salem-based activist V. Piyush has filed a private complaint at the Judicial Magistrate Court No. 4 on November 28, 2023, demanding legal action against BJP State President K. Annamalai. The complaint alleges that Annamalai issued threats and made provocative statements during a speech, prompting the activist to seek legal recourse. The complaint, lodged by Piyush, highlights a specific speech by K. Annamalai that was reportedly broadcast on various channels and social media platforms. According to the activist, Annamalai cited an incident from 1956, claiming that Forward Bloc leader U. Muthuramalinga Thevar had issued a warning to former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai and Justice Party leader P.T. Rajan. The alleged statement by Muthuramalinga Thevar suggested that if non-believers spoke about Hindu faith, human blood would replace the traditional offering of milk for the Abhishekam ritual to the deity of Madurai Meenakshi Amman. Piyush, in his complaint, raises doubts about the authenticity of the statement attributed to Muthuramalinga Thevar. He emphasizes that there is no historical record of such a statement being made by the Forward Bloc leader. The activist suggests that if Annamalai fails to substantiate the claim, it could be inferred that the BJP State President fabricated the story with the intention of inciting violence within the Hindu-majority community.
