In a significant boost to rail connectivity, Tamilnadu is set to introduce its fifth Vande Bharat Express, linking Coimbatore to Bengaluru. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this premium train service, along with five others, in a ceremony at Ayodhya Dham station. This new addition, the Coimbatore Junction to Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat Express, signifies the second rail link between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with the first operating between Chennai and Mysuru via Bengaluru. Promising unprecedented speed and efficiency, the Coimbatore-Bengaluru sector will witness the Vande Bharat Express covering the 380-km distance in a mere 6.20 hours (Coimbatore to Bengaluru Cantt) and 6.30 hours in the return direction. This places the service as the fastest in its sector, offering passengers a swift and comfortable journey. The inaugural run, marked as a special service with Train No. 02642, is scheduled to depart from Coimbatore Junction around 11 am on December 30. Making brief stops at Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, and Hosur, the train is expected to reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 6.30 pm on the same day. Speaking about the new services, B Vishwanath Eerya, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai, shared that one of the two Amrit Bharat trains flagged off by Prime Minister Modi will traverse via Katpadi (3.35 pm) and Jolarpettai (5.40 pm) stations of the Chennai Division on January 1, enhancing connectivity on its route from Malda Town to SMVT Bengaluru.
